Pelican Sky Reflections

We are having Brown Pelicans visiting Victoria Inner Harbour. They must  have come from some southern busy harbour because they seem to not mind the planes and activity around them. They are incredibly fun to watch and everyone is enjoying them so much, we hope they stay all year.  This is a sky shot for Sky Watch Friday and I did get some amazing really really close ups of the Pelicans when they flew over my head.  Next week I will put those in.

Here  is a reflecting Wood Duck.
Some nice sky watching shots from Sidney, B.C. All the photos enlarge and look much nicer in the lightbox if you click on them.
My wide angle seems to be quite distorted here.  I am putting in the break here as this post has a lot of photos and please click the read more to see the rest of them, lots more pictures....
Now we are reflecting the sky at Cowichan, B.C. and this is a good birding spot at an estuary.
Right near there is a lumber mill and lumber yard. I don't think I was supposed to be in there but....
And here we are reflecting the fall colors at  Koksilah River, B.C.

I staged this one by putting the leaf on the rock.  Do you like it?

Here is the totem that is on the top of the Malahat.  When you click to enlarge you can see some of the mountains.
These Longhorn Cattle were up at Cowichan also.  They came running to see me and wanted their photo taken or possibly something good to eat.
 These are for Camera Critters.
This is Mr. Terrible, well he is cute when he is not in the bird feeder.
These funny sheep all run as fast as they can to come to the fence when we are birding in Metchosin, they cry and cry and look hopefully at us wishing the truck was full of food. We must look like the farmer.
Lots of texture in their coats.

These were backlit and have so much shadow but I like anyway.

That is it for the weekend, see you back again for next Monday and I will tell you about my visit with the amazing Pelicans!

I may not enter all these memes but this is the only way I can still join and not spend too much time on the computer for my eyes. Thanks so much to the meme hosts who put on each of the following amazing memes for bloggers to join in and share their work.

The memes for this weekend are:

edit note:  I sometimes have to republish after I see how many errors I made or links not working.  I list all the memes for the week now as I can only spend a short time on the computer as my eyes get tired. Yes the Pelicans are amazing and they are now tame and sitting on the dock two feet away from us all. They land with a big spash in the water by the dock as there is lots of bait there.

These are all gorgeous. Your animal shots are wonderful. I particularly love the one of the sheep who looks like he (or she) is trying to have a conversation with you.

The sheep have such nice placid expressions. That is almost a Mona Lisa smile on the one in the last photo. I look forward to the pelicans as I don’t recall ever seeing one in our neck of the woods. :)

I am now able to get some of your photos to load in Madge..not sure what was happening, very slow to load your photos in. All is well now. Have a good holiday. I never can plan a shot before, as Pelicans are flying very quickly far away and then suddenly they are over you, it is all very quick and just by luck I will get a shot.
