Amazing pictures. I miss all the variety of Sparrows during the winter. We only see them in spring and a few in fall.

I bet that Fox Sparrow caused a bit of confusion! Nice pictures.

When work sends me to places I would not normally go to I do tend to pack in the pictures - I can alway catch up on sleep when I get back to work!

cheers and thinks for linking to WBW.

You have such an interesting variety of birds and photographs here. My favourite images are the last one - it is so crisp and clear and i like the colours - and the California Quail because of the beautiful textures and patterns on the bird and the grass.
Thank you for your nice comment too:)

Happy Holidays Pam!

Hi Holly, the word leucistic means that it is lacking of pigment hence it is way more white than the normal Foxy. It is not an albino because it has some color and does not have pink eyes.

Indrani has a wonderful blog from India. It is hard for some bloggers to download as many pictures as I put in each time so I am now doing a jump break where you have to click "read more" and this may help those with slow downloading.

Happy Holidays Mick!

yes Stewart, the Fox Sparrow was a hit, Leucism is is a condition characterized by reduced pigmentation in animals caused by a recessive allele. Unlike albinism, it is caused by a reduction in all types of skin pigment, not just melanin. Thanks to Google and Wiki for that.

Hi Eileen, I messed up with the Harris Sparrow, it was late and I was rushed....the actual spelling of the name is I think Harris's Sparrow. But I am not doing corrections anymore as you have to republish and then all my subscribers will get a second copy and that may be annoying to them. I wish the Googlebot would not crawl my posts immediately, I have too many errors to fix.

The leucistic sparrow is still there today, I was worried about him as he stands out and there are so many owls around.

Great variety of birds Nora. The leucistic Fox Sparrow is very cool. Did the eye ring, tail and bill give it away?
