Dee Birds

This week I got some dandy "D" bird shots.  I did not realise how many "d" birds there are.  We had a busy birding week on Vancouver Island so here are some of the photos.

These are shots of the Long-billed Dowitcher above, I am pretty sure but can be advised on the one below as his beak is not long and I have no idea what he is...can someone id him for me? We have a decline in our shorebirds this year.  The Dowitcher seems to always have its beak in the water, dabbling away at stuff.

Here is my favourite Dipper from out at Goldstream Park...
they are very tame and fly quite close to me. I sit in the tall grasses
sometimes and hide from them.

And we saw the Osprey nest with the Osprey looking DOWN at us all.
You have guessed by now it is "D" week at ABC Meme.

Then in the back yard there was my friend the little Downy Woodpecker who comes to visit with me a lot.

I sometimes sit in a blind right next to the bird feeder, it is my relaxation, zen meditation place and I also take photos! I bet you wondered how I get these close ups!

This week  I was sitting out there as usual and right beside me was the bird bath....who comes to have a long bath but Towhee!  The picture is too DARK as it has a light background.  I have the camera on a tripod so had to turn the whole darn thing and hold it up to get the shot and it is at an angle.

Here we have the Drinking Anna's Hummingbird...she sure does drink a lot.

And here we have the sleepy Black Duck from out at Beacon Hill Park.

This is not a bird but we did find this little fawn with the mother Deer out at Hatley Castle.

So it has been a great birding and nature week this week with lots of photos. Thanks so much for all your comments.  I am having a really busy summer so my blogs may not be that good.  This is not a very exciting post but I want to try to keep posting something each week over the summer.  I am mostly taking a lot of photos and video and saving it for those long rainy winter days!

Don't forget to check out my twitter page, my facebook page, my youtube site.

Thank you to these memes for allowing bloggers to share their story.  I may not remember to enter them all but I still list them for others and as this is the quick way for me to do it.

Thanks Sylvia, gosh since you are at Google+ I can't figure out how to comment...give me a minute to look at your profile there. Hmmm...I still can't find a link on your profile to your page. I know where you are, so will find you. Perhaps put the link in your ABOUT section, or add a lot of YOUR posts to your POST section.

Hi Hildred so nice to see you. I love the poem by Emily and the history on her on your blog today...it is endearing to read about her unusual habits, but in a way we all are unusual and she spent her time writing letters and poems and we blog! Some similarities there.

We have decided the unknown bird, the third picture from top, probably is a juvenile Yellowlegs...thanks to a helpful person at twitter...I think she is right as there were some adult Yellowlegs in the same pond. Sigh, was hoping it was a new rare birdy.

Delightful Dee birds and also the sweetest little Deer!

Truly beautiful images!!! The birds, I'm thinking maybe a juvenile yellowlegs maybe? Or perhaps a short billed dowitcher? Your guess is as good as mine tho. ID'ing so many that look so similar is VERY difficult. LOVE the fawn...that image melts my heart.
