Hugging Baby Owls

Baby Great Horned Owls like to hug.

They like to sit together on a branch in the sun.

They seem to be almost affectionate to each other.

Baby owls like to kiss.

Look at my big feet, I wonder what I am supposed to do with these big feet.

The owls are for Wild Bird Wednesday and The Bird D'Pot and Horned owls are for the letter "h" for ABC Wednesday.  (they are from two years ago).

Two lovely fences for Good Fences Thursday.  (at French Beach)

For Black and White Wednesday, a goose on her nest protesting my camera as I walk by her. (at Panama flats last year).

And we need some red for Ruby Tuesday. (at Hatley Castle last fall)

Harbour Seals from the past files, put through Adobe Elements Paint program.  They are for the letter "H" at ABC meme and for Digital Art.

These are for Our World, Nature Notes, Water World and Outdoors Wednesday.

Below are two videos of owls hugging.  If they do not show up you can find them at my YouTube page.

  17. Hi Nora! Thanks for stopping by:) Your Great Horned Owlets are amazing. I hope they grow older and stronger by the day. And your Seals.....:) Cute! Sorry about the glaucoma issue. I know how that can be as both my grandmas have had to deal with it. After they had it taken care of, they were so happy to see vibrant colors again. Hang in there. Chris:)

  26. LOVE the baby owls! They are so precious!!!! The sunset & fence shots are great, too, and those seals...they are almost as huggable as the owls! Really super shots!

I just read somewhere that someone with glaucoma had injections in that eye and it improved her sight. Is that something your Dr. has pursued for you?

  28. I was here yesterday and loved your pictures and especially the videos of the branchling Great Horned Owls. The raptor families all seem to be affectionate and friendly as long as there is not a food issue involved. My friend has a Barred Owl in a mew on her property (She is licensed through NIRC) He was deemed imprinted when he was young and therefore unreleasable, but now we think he is just habituated to humans but still can't be released because he was never taught how to hunt by his parents. There is a pair of wild barred owls on her property who come and talk to him every night. The male and female both come which is quite unusual. When we brought him inside a few nights because of the extreme cold, they came and talked to my friend when she was outside, as if to say, where is he? It has been an amazing experience. I am sorry you are struggling with Glaucoma. It is very difficlut to lose sight especially when you are a nature lover and an artist/photographer. I will say a prayer for you and hope that the progression can be stopped. Thank you for coming over to my blog and for following. I am following you as well ... looking forward to your posts.

  44. You are allowed to complain when you need to do so. Don't feel guilty. Your pictures are such a joy and I hope (and kind of know) that they bring you joy as well and some moments of respite. Those hugging baby owls are simply remarkable. Beautiful ... As is every picture, but those owls are just a little miracle. Thanks for sharing your beautiful nature photos, especially when you're not feeling at your best.

  45. Just stopping by to see how you are. It's been a while since you've posted. I'm hoping that you are working things out with the new glaucoma medication. Thinking of you and also hoping that you are out there photographing all the beautiful sights in your world. Take care.

  46. Oh my gosh...I love this so much!!!

  47. Hope this finds you having a good day in your world. I just noticed the hugging owls. Although late to arrive, I am no less impressed by the adorable video. Please forgive the pun … but what a hoot to see this pair having a heart-to-heart, especially when some species of baby birds seem more competitive. I hope the new medication you tried has been helpful. Wishing you the best!
