Sunsets Weekly Photo Wrap Up

Time for my weekly photo wrap up. Click to see the ....

sunsets! These were taken on the last two nights out on the islands around Sidney Island. They are actually cell phone sunsets.

This is a boat wharf reflecting.

We went to the Saanich Fair and saw the horses.

(sign says "I am having a grumpy day, please leave me alone")

(sign says "Give me some space, I am tired and grumpy")

We went to Goldstream and hiked and swam in the cool pools.

Another Red-tailed hawk flew right over us here in the forest but I had the wrong camera.

I met another hawk this week also, I seem to be the hawk whisperer now I see hawks everywhere I go. This is a Cooper's I think. He is sitting on a bat box possibly. Forgot to turn off the cell so my cell rings in the middle of taking the video of him, lesson to self, turn the cell to vibrate when birding. Anyway he liked the music of the cell.

He flew up to a tree and did a lovely performance of fanning the tail feathers.

Then back to more of the sunsets from last night and the night before out on the water near Sidney Spit.

Oh and here is a comparison of the two Red-tailed hawks. Since I do not know much about hawks it was a learning experience for me to find out that the New Mystery Hawk is possibly an older hawk than the Spunky Hawk of Sidney.

I am feeling a little bit down in the dumps that it is not Spunky the beloved hawk of Sidney. Some people tell me that this New Mystery Hawk has red on his tail which means he is older. Also some people tell me that his beak and claws look older.

So I guess I found a really tame two year old Red-tailed hawk that was very people friendly and even seemed to like to be close with people but was not banded. That is the Mystery. Why was he so tame. He would jump down from the post every time I moved away a bit. What is with that?
That's the weekly photo wrap up. cheers. Nora
