Sky Reflections Dougan Lake

Dougan Lake is right beside the Island Highway near Cobble Hill, on South Vancouver Island.  It is a great place for fishing stocked cutthroat and rainbow trout as it has a little boat launch.  Some of the fish are quite large.  This post is for Sky Watch Friday and Weekend Reflections. I have a lot of photos of this spot and it is exceptional at sunset in summer.

It has an interesting history as the Dougan family built the first roadhouse here on what was then the Cowichan Trail which went from Goldstream to Cowichan Bay.  It followed an old, very narrow First Nations trail.  The Dougan family were major land owners in the area and family still remain there.  The Dougan's Roadhouse even had a lockup for rowdy customers.
It must have been beautiful there in those early years as one travelled so slowly you could really enjoy the scenery.  Hope everyone has a great weekend and hello to fellow bloggers on these popular memes.
