Baby raccoons are so cute! I found a family of raccoons in Beacon Hill Park a while ago. The mom would bring the whole pack of about six babies to the water for a drink. I put this to black and white for Black and White Weekend. They were very curious about me, and they wanted to stay and stare at me and mom wanted them to drink and to leave. (I was looking for a Tanager, found raccoons).
The mom made many little calls and whistles to her crew of babies, they ignored her and stared at me a lot. There was fresh water for them to drink but they mostly played and climbed trees and stared. The raccoon baby and the deer baby are for the Critter memes. I found this baby deer up island near where we put our trailer in Parksville. The baby deer was not afraid either.

We went to Cowichan the other day for a drive. Cowichan is from a Coast Salish word that means "land warmed by the sun" and it was really warm that day. There is a nice tourist area of local shops and docks. Also there is a great little museum and long dock.

This is the lake near where I live. It is called Beaver Lake. Sunset is really early right now. I took this photo a few days ago. These shots are for Weekend Reflections and Sky Watch.

This week it is Bears and Birds. This fall I got way to close to a bear that we call Big Pappy near Campbell River. We just named him that as we have seen him so much. I had another bear coming by on the other side of me so the video is very short. And it was quite late in the evening. Not on tripod, hand held so I can move fast. It is best on full screen. He seems to stare directly at me at one point and I was a little worried. I was not in a covered blind or anything, he could see me. You can't crop in on video so it is as close as it was with the lens full out. It shakes a little but overall one of my better captures. I have several more bears to put in sometime. I have about a hundred videos to do. The top shot is not cropped.
There is a video below, if it is not loading in, just reload the page or visit my YouTube site.
much better if you enlarge to HD

Just a weekend mix of memes and photos. The one above will be good for Weekend Reflections and also for Mandarin Orange Monday. It was taken at Beacon Hill Park and the leaves of the tree behind reflected on the water very nicely. The photo below was also taken at the same park and is a good photo for Mellow Yellow Monday.
