I had a lovely visit with Ma and Pa Sidney Eagles.....
the other day. This is the eagle nest that is near Pat Bay. There are a lot of eagle nests out in the Sidney area. I think there are two or three nests right close together in Pat Bay. Some old and some new!
I was so happy to see these two eagles as they are special to me. I am never quite sure that it is the same eagles though. These are the eagles that some of us watched on a cam years ago from the Hancock Wildlife Cams as they raised their young ones.
Lately there have been around four eagles out around the same nest area. I am not sure what is going on there.
On this day I found what I thought was the female and male from the Sidney (actually Pat Bay nest). They were in the usual place by the fence. They did not have any young last year at this nest.
I had a wonderful visit with them and it felt just like the old days when many of us used to visit together at this nest site.
The two eagles were sitting together on their favorite tree. Then the larger one, who was very impressive I think, flew off toward the new nest and the smaller one just stayed hiding in the same tree.
(These are some photos of the Pat Bay area.)
They did not seem impressed with me at all! But now when I look over the photos I can see that the larger one, female I guess, did a really close fly over me several times so that I was able to get some of my best flight photos of her. Oh that was so amazing for me! To see her fly so close to me, perhaps she recognize me! I think she was looking for someone else as she flew over the beach and away to the nest!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful series.
ReplyDeleteWonderfully majestic birds! I would probably have hundreds of shots that look a lot alike!! The scenery around is terrific, too.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Nora!
ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed the videos. I was fun watching the hawk (in the second one) try to get the feather off, that was stuck on his beak. Also, it was very nice of that snipe to aerate your lawn for free...
