Poems: All the Little Birds High Flying Bird

Poem today is called All the Little Birds....

All the Little Birds

the sun setting on black hills
the summer air cools
all the little birds
fly home to roost
for night
to blanket them
until dawn rustles them
with light breezes from the sea

those lost eyes of youth
ache to see beauty again
the city of tar and brick
leans far over the sky

a star can twinkle there
and not be seen
among the tin mirrors of man
all the little birds
fly home to roost
forever.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ODE TO A HIGH FLYING BIRD
listen to you
you babble on
why must you garble
like some recording
in my ears
i say to you
please close the door
for i need you no more
and you, you smile
and say you have the right
to stay and don't want
to go away
so i say your a high
flying bird but
i need you no more
please close the door.

(this is really not about a bird I guess. I use the small "i" a lot and felt it was kind of a way to revolt against language).

poems by ©Nora Flower written as a young girl.
