Today I have a few poems about ..
owls, bats and my first job in Vancouver.
Wise Owl
wise owl hoots
the black bats swoop
over our awesome white eyes
under a thousand webbed branches
charcoal in a mushroom sky
(These are eagles near the fish rivers)
the screech ends abrupt
all crackles still
fell to hug the warmth of the
pregnant earth
i heard the stillness echo
in my tumbling mind.
poem by Nora Flower written as a child
New Day:
each new day
spreads like peanut butter
on my bread
it lasts as long
as the taste
and sticks forever
in my memory.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Day is Done
this day was done before it began
in the close soft mist
i ran before the sun
i struggled up the shoulder
of thick pouring pavement
blackened by the rain drops
i thought vaguely of this day
ran on my way to the job
done. i ran here
once back
i found myself with nothing
this day was done before it began.
