Today the poem is about birth, the birth of a friends baby many years ago and another poem for someone I hardly knew.
The Birth Poem
hold tightly in your arms
care for, cradle and cry for
this small being
such a shaky beginning
for this fragile one
he is but a beginning of the
cycle of which there is
no end
from him continues the past
and out of him springs the
future
he is but one small piece
of the intricate puzzle that
is life
at this moment in time he is
to be sure the most important
the most wonderful
the most beautiful
the most loved
entity enveloping
in the circle of the
safety and protection
of his parents' loving arms
joined by the care of
the family
and friends.

Written on the night that a friend had a baby boy. (pictures not mine of the baby)
Poem for Marianne
agile gentle fingers touch
all that you love
warm flesh filled earth mother
Taurus, Venus lover
your compassion encompasses all
all that you love
your child mind worships the mirror
reflecting your love
you love a flower
you love a pebble
you love John most
of all you love
yet your soul has no fences
to love is to love all.
This poem was written years and years ago in Vancouver. For someone I hardly knew. I just wrote what I observed as I watched the hippy generation. I was always in a corner writing in my journal. A kind artist took me in with my broken heart. I was broken into so many pieces as a child. I don't think Marianne ever knew who I was, I just watched her and John and wrote it. I wrote random poems for people I never knew or people I looked in the window of life and saw something beautiful. I saw love.
