Welcome to the Island Rambles Blog

Welcome to my blog world. This is a photo blog, poetry and short story blog about my life on Vancouver Island, B.C. Canada. I take photos of the birds and scenery I find. I hope you enjoy your time here and please come back again. PHOTOS WILL ENLARGE IF CLICKED. The photos are slide show enabled if you click on them. Coastal Storms

We are having many windy storms on the coast.

These are taken at Island View Beach.
 Coastal photos for ABC
 Storm for Our World

The ducks and the shorebirds don't seem to mind the bad weather.

 For Bird d'Pot

So much rain.
Macro Monday

 Swans for Nature Notes.

Above is someones backyard full of swans and below is a hawk in my backyard.

For Wild Bird

I was thinking of the clothing the First Nations wore in the early days and how cold it must have been for them. They must  have been so strong.  More pictures from the museum.

Ruby Tuesday Too

More photos of the lights at Butchart Gardens.

On Facebook you can see my Island Rambles Page where I post frequently. I post videos frequently on my Island Rambles YouTube Channel also. You can find me on Twitter here.

  1. Wow, what a fabulous post...and super images Nora!!

Thanks so much for sharing with us at I'd Rather B Birdin' this week. It's always so much appreciated!

  2. People have become birds! :)

  3. I've often wondered about how strong the constitutions were of the original peoples of all lands. Lately I've been going barefoot outdoors in cold weather with a crazy notion that it makes me stronger. I'm enjoying your photos of winter. Ours in my part of California is still quite mild.

  4. Wonderful images... a post containing many beautiful things

    Have a splendid & ♥-warming ABC-Wednes-day / - week
    ♪ M e l o d y ♫ (abc-w-team)

  5. I can’t get over having swans or hawks as backyard birds! As always I loved every photo. I have had the same questions about First Nation and PNW Native Americans and how they protected themselves in cold rainy weather.

  6. Great shots of the kites in the wind during coastal storms ~

    Happy Week to you,

  7. Terrific variety of lovely captures!

  8. I do wonder how those kite surfers avoid getting tangled ...

  9. Funny as I have been reading and native people and looking at activists as my poem up now is from one. I think we treated them terribly and in a way still do here in the states....Michelle

  10. Thanks so much for these lovely comments. I will reply on each of your blogs as time permits. I appreciate your comments so much.
