The Big Eagle Party

I just went to a big party for ........

eagles and ravens!  I was not invited by the eagles or the ravens but they allowed me to be a distant bystander and to watch all the activities that went on.

This is the order that I took the photos in so I will just use that order to put them in here. At first I just noticed all the ravens and then realised that young eagles were laying down in the middle of the raven and eagle party. I did not get photos of them until they started to fly. My eyesight is not very good.

All the eagles for the area were there and all the young ones also. The young ones just laid down in all the party food, right in the middle of it. It was like they were sleeping right at the table.

Their parents looked on and watched over them. There was quite a lot of noise and as you can imagine with the eagles calling out and the ravens screaming.

I did not get too close as I did not want to stop all the fun and party games. They always tolerate me when I show up.

The adult eagles supervised it all.

There is a young eagle here.

Some of the eagles were one or two years old.

The weather was really bad and there was no light, it was that kind of day when your camera just looks all black and white.  And it was really really windy.

Some of the eagles were teenagers and would fly over me to check out what I was doing at a rave party.

I tried to lighten these dark photos but I do not have a photo program anymore so it is what it is.

This guy kept flying low over me so I could practise my flying shots I guess.

I was surprised at how many older and young eagles there were gathered here as I have not seen this many unless I was at a river with salmon in it. There were eagles everywhere.

This was a wonderful day for the young baby eagles that could not hunt yet so they could get some food to get through till summer.  All the ravens and eagles enjoyed the free food at the party.

I don't know who put the party on but I thank them for helping out.

I could not even tell what the party treats were.

The eagles and ravens love to party and I enjoyed the eagle and raven party very much but I got really sick after and my eye got really sore so I was so sick after this eagle and raven party. Never party with eagles and ravens was the lesson I learnt. I still have not recovered from this event and could not even post anything last week. I think the wind and bad weather did me in also. My advice is if you see a Eagle Party don't go! (But I loved seeing the eagles!)

  4. It seems to me that an Eagle and Raven party is as fine an event as you could possibly go to, and I am sorry that it made you ill. We saw many Bald Eagles and Northern Ravens on our recent trip to Vancouver Island, but if the invitation to the party came we missed it! Hope you are well again, Nora.

  8. Eagles are kinder to ravens than little sparrow hawks are to my crows I guess.... they won't even let my crippled crow come for his snacks anymore now that some silly Missus Hawk decided to nest close to our house. Bummer. all my summer fun is ruined.

  9. Oh, Nora, what wonderful photos, but I'm sorry you became ill.
I would love to see an eagle/raven party, but I think I would need a camera with a very long lens.
I'm hoping you might know, and hoping you don't mind me asking, or I could ask David Hancock or Christian Sasse...does anyone know what became of Spunky, so beloved of British Columbians, especially coast-dwellers as you are, and as I once was.
Now I hope you are well again.

  10. I think it was the wind that made you sick not the party! (But of course if you hadn't gone to the party, you might have stayed out of the wind.) Please stay well and I'm so happy that you shared these wonderful bird shots.
