Update on the Spunky nest and the owls and more....
The eagle nest in Roberts Bay that raised the baby hawk last year is very quiet. I think it has only one baby eaglet in it, no hawks this year.
I have only been there a few times and this time saw the mom tenderly feeding one baby eaglet.
She is such a good mom.
We have been looking for owls this year. We found a Great Horned Owl thanks to a dear old friend that I met.
This is the baby Barred Owl below. He has branched to a very high tree canopy area and is hard to get pictures of. I am glad he is safe and can fly a little bit. His name is "Woody". Thanks to my friend who gave me the info as she has watched this nest for years.
My friend tells me the mom is called Josie or Josephine and the dad is "Mr". They are a lovely couple and full of owl personality.
I think this is the baby owl below trying out his wings. The owls have been the highlight of this summer for me, but my hubby is burnt out on owls so we will take a break.
This is the Oak Bay Eaglets below who are ready to branch now. Their nest was just a few blocks from where I lived for thirty years before moving so I knew these eagles better than the other eagles.
A deer comes to see me as I am taking photos and I do not mind.
We are on the hunt for rare and unusual butterflies now. It is very hot here and I may not be posting as much as I like to be outdoors a lot.
Flowers below from my garden and my neighbours garden. My neighbour has a wonderful garden.
We are at the letter X in the ABC linky and X marks the place I love the most, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, in Canada. This is my paradise. I am so glad I was born here. If you ever can come and see Vancouver Island you will love it too.
