Woody Came Back Alive!

Woody is Alive!  It is a miracle! Woody is a baby Barred Owl that I was observing for a long time this summer and then he disappeared.

He was found dead near the nest.

But....I have just found out that Woody has been seen with his mom, Josie!

So this needs some explaining to imagine this. IMAGINE with me.

Early in August there was a huge row with the owls and the hawks it was reported.

Then a dead baby Barred Owl was found near the nest.....
that Woody the baby Barred Owl grew up in and Woody was missing.

It was identified as Woody as much as it could be identified. It was traumatic for those that found him and for the little Woody Community. His body was treated with love and tenderly cared for and flowers were put there. That was that, we all thought it was Woody and he was gone.

Now it is around three weeks or a month later, I have been going to the park every few days just looking for the owl adults but not finding them. I would look for Woody as well even though I knew that was crazy. I had a funny feeling he was alive and also I did not think the hawks would get him but that was crazy. Don't tell anyone.

Then three days ago my friend, Cheryl, who knows the owls well for the last many many years, goes and sits on her usual place and the mom owl, Josie flies in, lands near Cheryl's head, hoots and calls someone else in. She called in Woody. Cheryl made a video of it and I will ask her if I can use her video footage to put in here. I think Cheryl nearly passed out with surprise!

So we have no idea who the frail little body of the dead barred owl was and we have no idea where Josie and Mister, the adult Barred owls, have been hiding Woody for the last few weeks.

He can fly really well so I guess they are going all over the area. I went to look for them today but I am looking in the old area where they used to be and I think they have moved on to a new area. Many people saw Woody and took photos and video for the last few days so it is confirmed that it is him.

If you Imagine then Miracles do happen.
