It is About Time

It is about time to get back here and do a blog.

I found a nice little Barred Owl down the road from my house.  There were two of them and they were hooting and saying "Who Who Cooks For You".  I said Whooo Whoo back to them. One liked me a lot and let me walk right up to him. This must be a little male as he is so small.

Drove out to Sidney and there was the same little Red Tailed Hawk sitting on the post as he always is. Could he be the Spunky hawk from the eagles nest?  I will never know now. He was just a few miles from that eagles nest. I bet Spunky likes to eat mice now as all he got in the eagles nest was fish!

There were a few Snow Geese that flew into a field beside us.

Went out to see the fish at Sooke Potholes but the run was finished and the fish were all gone, or perhaps the run was very small there.  I did find an eagle sitting just above the river.  Little Ayum Creek has a ton of fish this year.

We looked also at Charters Creek for the fish. That run is almost finished also. Very few fish in there but saw a few Coho, the red ones in there.

Below this is the fish in the Weir at Goldsteam Park. Goldstream has a lot of fish this year. Tons of fish!

Then we did a drive around the Chinese Cemetery.

I think this is lovely that they put hearts there.

At Esquimalt Lagoon there is a pretty Marbled Godwit.

And to finish off a few sunset pictures on a gray November day.

I have been thinking a lot about Time lately.  The time in the past and what I did and wondering about the time in the future.  Time keeps slipping and slipping into the future like the song says.

  11. Beautiful post ... I love knowing that the owl is smart enough to recognize you as a friend! And I want to believe with all my heart that that is your hawk from the eagle nest! On the eagle nest I watch in Florida, Harriet and her mate sometimes bring road kill and even occasionally land birds or small mammals or mice, for the neslings, . even though fish are plentiful. The experts say that is to teach the babies how to eat anything and everything, since they might not end up where there is easy fishing.
