Welcome to the Island Rambles Blog

Welcome to my blog world. This is a photo blog, poetry and short story blog about my life on Vancouver Island, B.C. Canada. I take photos of the birds and scenery I find. I hope you enjoy your time here and please come back again. PHOTOS WILL ENLARGE IF CLICKED. The photos are slide show enabled if you click on them. If you click on the top lighthouse photo it always takes you to the most recent summary list of my postings. I am also mostly at my Facebook Page Island Rambles or my Instagram islandrambles.

What Happened?

What happened to Island Rambles?.......

Why I have not been posting very much.  First we had a very cold winter with a lot of snow!....

Here is a Junco in the snow for ABC.

A Dove in the snow.

A Varied Thrush in the snow.

We found many eagles that have returned to their nests now. Here are the eagles that raised a hawk called Spunky in their nest in 2017.

We found many hawks also. This is a Cooper's Hawk below.

This is a Red-tailed hawk  (below) that we found out in the Saanich Peninsula not far from the Spunky Eagle Hawk nest. He was very tame.

Now the snow is mostly gone and the Spring flowers are coming out.

Also I had an eye operation and that has to settle down a bit more. I am trying to get back into doing my blog and Instagram. I have been hiding out at my Facebook Page mostly but I miss seeing all the blogs!

On Facebook you can see my Island Rambles Page where I post frequently. I have over 300 videos on my Island Rambles YouTube Channel also. My Instagram is here. You can find me on Twitter here.

  1. Good to hear from you and see your wonderful photos. Your video of all the Spring flowers reminds me of why Spring is my favourite season.

  2. Been following you over on Facebook. Nice to have the blog back too. I've been away from mine for a while. We took an RV trip to Arizona for 25 days and I wrote about it on my other Margy Meanders blog. Consequently my Powell River Books blog has suffered. - Margy

  8. It was a chilly February but we're seeing a softening in the weather now. The little thrush added a nice splash of colour to the white of snow. :)
